This line stretches from Wallerawang to Binnaway, passing the important town of Mudgee.
Winding its way along the western escarpment, the Mudgee Mail travelled all the way to Coonabarabran, via Gulgong, Dunedoo, and Merrygoen. Gulgong, the town on the $10 note, is known amongst railway buffs as it is the terminus of the Sandy Hollow line. Originally this line was meant to go to Mary Vale on the main West line.
The domain of C30T and C32 class locomotives, we detail the allocations at the various depots and when the 48's took over operations.
The Mudgee Mail was a special train, and I regret missing out on the chance to ride is with my friend.
